Question: What is the treatment for an adult with ADHD who has had heart by-pass surgery?Our son was just diagnosed with ADHD and we think that my husband may have it as well. Dr. Heller’s Answer: Assuming his post op stress test is normal he should be able to take psychostimulants like Adderall or methylphenidate (Ritalin and others).If his symptoms are of the hyperactive/impulsive type of ADHD only, the antidepressant Wellbutrin (buproprion) can be effective.
