Question: Hello, I’m trying to find out what sort of jobs are easier for people with BPD to cope with? Jobs with little or no coworker interaction? Detail oriented positions? What sort of position could possibly consider those behaviors useful rather than counterproductive? This is a question that has come up in my own life as well as in groups I have attended, but no one seems to be able to help or give even a general or broad direction to look in. Thank you, Dr. Heller’s Answer: As long as they are taking their medications properly they can candle most jobs. The keys are the comorbid diagnoses and how willing the individual is to actually take their medications properly and when needed. “What Color is Your Parachute?” by Richard Bolles can give enormous insight into strengths and weaknesses. ADHD and the BPD frequently co-exist.
