WHAT’S FRACTURED ENJOYMENT AND WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME? 
Question: I was recommended by your website by my year coordinator. He suggested for me to look into “fractured enjoyment” — (not a diagnosis but something you go in depth about). However there is not a lot about this on the site (only a few lines). I found many things from your website that related to my symptoms and diagnosis. I have severe anxiety, and possible depression. I am very much a perfectionist and I always aim for the highest. People tell me I aim too high and that is what makes me stress out so much. For the following questions I can say yes to all of them, especially the first one. I’m not sure what the second one means? The third one, I have to do the work myself especially in group presentations, I have to make sure that everything goes through me first before submitting in assignments, etc. I have to have everything perfect. 1. Are you a perfectionist to the point where it keeps you from getting things done? 2. Are you a pack rat? 3. Do you have trouble trusting other people to do things because you’re sure they’ll mess it up? The same for GAD, I can truly say that is how I am always. 4. Are you nervous more than you’re not? 5. Do you always feel scared? 6 Does your mind never shut off, and has been that way since you were a child? May you please tell me more about “fractured enjoyment”??? Dr. Heller’s Answer: “Fractured enjoyment” is a genetic depression characterized by living between not quite depressed and not quite happy all throughout life. I go into it in the “Biological Unhappiness” book. Regarding the GAD and OCPD, most patients do extraordinarily well on BuSpar (buspirone) followed by high doses of Prozac (fluoxetine), usually 60-80mg daily.
