Why Does my Best Friend Lie?

Hi,
I really need info and advice on this, My best friend is lying constantly, last year she lied about getting raped and injected with illegal drugs…she followed this lie for so long it was believable, and once I proved her wrong, I felt like I killed everything she relied on. She still lies but not about huge things anymore, but I don’t understand why she does this.
Can you explain?

Lying can be a way to reduce consequences in anxiety disorders, impulsive without thinking in attention deficit disorder, or a philosophy about life. Borderlines while psychotic often perceive things that arent true, and believe it strongly subsequently. Making all the diagnoses and treating them comprehensively is a key. I strongly recommend the screening test and listening to Zig Ziglars “How to Stay Motivated” tape series.
